Capturing Motion in Photography

Presenter:  Betsy Wilson

Motion photography is compelling, challenging, and fun.  There are many ways to capture motion in photography.  The most common method is Suspended Movement - use a fast shutter speed to freeze the action. But there are many other techniques to either capture motion or to create the illusion of motion.  Betsywill show examples of different types of motion photography and explain the method behind each one.  Motion blur can come from either in front of the camera, or from behind it. Panning, zooming, changing shutter speeds, and a few unusual and fun methods of capturing motion will be illustrated.  This presentation is sure to give you some inspiration to try some new techniques, and to learn how to capture motion before the February Competition when the assigned topic is “Motion Photography”
