MEETING NOTES - MAY 8, 2019

Choir Room ~ Westminster Presbyterian Church

 

Meeting ~ Howard Sundwall called the meeting to order.

 

Visitors ~ There was 1 new visitor/member at tonight’s meeting.

 

Club Business ~ Howard notified members that the Harrisburg Camera Club is hosting a full-day workshop on Saturday, June 8.  Betsy Wilson highly recommends this comprehensive workshop and passed out brochures to the audience.

 

Howard reminded club members that the end-of-year party will be Wednesday, June 12, at the Uptown! Knauer Performing Arts Center, 226 North High St., West Chester, PA.  Howard is working on obtaining door prizes for members and hopes that everyone will be there!  Evites will be sent out to members soon.

 

Outings ~ Dean Grantham ~

Date pending to Stoneleigh Gardens ~ Dean Grantham told club members that the outing to Stoneleigh Gardens will need to be changed due to an anticipated large crowd on May 11.  Dean suggested alternate dates of May 18, May 19 and possibly June 1.  Dean will confirm the new date with club members via email soon.  Stoneleigh Gardens began in 1877 as a 65-acre estate, owned by Edmund Smith, who built a mansion and hired a landscape architect to shape the grounds.  Stoneleigh’s gardens, fields, and architecture offer ample opportunities for photography.  For further information, please click here: /club/Events_view.aspx?Eventid=bc6be15d-e0d5-49ff-9060-1070ed284d9d  

 

Bus Trip to NYC ~ Howard told club members that the bus trip to Central Park in NYC is a go for June 15, 2019.  Enough members have signed up for the trip and there are at least 20 seats remaining for anyone else interested in going to the Big Apple.

 

Workshops ~ Steve Williams told the crowd that the Photo Journalism workshop was a success!

 

Summer Challenge ~ Anita Bower announced the Summer Challenge to the group.  She guaranteed a fun, but challenging, summer with fellow club members. 

 

Howard told that group that he will be away for the next meeting.  Carol DeGuiseppi will fill in for him.

 

Election of Officers ~ Club members voted for the 2019-2020 slate of officers.  Next year’s officers will be:  Howard Sundwall - President; Ginia Apostolacus - Vice-President; Stephanie Vacek - Secretary; Helen Wagner - Treasurer; Jennifer Gidaro & Peter Guman - Members-at-Large.

 

Members Forum ~ Anita Bower introduced 7 club members who presented the popular “Let’s See Your Best Shot” with a new twist. Pre-selected camera club members presented one of their favorite photographs that is meaningful to them. They shared why they chose it, how they captured and processed it, and what they hoped to achieve with the image. The audience commented how the image affected them. Participating members were: Arvid Bloom, Richard Donham, Sally Riddle, Pat Rhubottom, Connie Snyder, Sarah Staub, and Paul Stewart.

 

Presenter ~ Carol DeGuiseppi introduced the final speaker of the year, Lisa Cuchera.  Lisa presented “Focusing on the Details: Create Fine Art Photographs from Urban Exploration”.  Lisa and her husband, Tom, have published a few books and will have them for sale this evening for $20 & $25 each ~ cash only.  You can read more about Lisa and Tom and view their photographs at www.photographybylisaandtom.com
