MEETING NOTES - MAY 8, 2018

Rhoads Building ~ Chester County Hospital

 

Pre-Meeting ~ Anita Bower introduced club member, Jim Wilson.  Jim presented his unusual and entertaining approach to photography.

 

Meeting ~ Bob Kelly called the meeting to order and asked everyone to silence their cell phones.  Bob also told the group that tonight is election night.

 

 

End of Year Party ~ Kayann Cassidy announced that the end of year party is just around the corner.  The party will be Tuesday, June 12 - 6:30 - 9:00 pm.  Club members are asked to RSVP yes or no to the Evite invitation when it arrives via email.

 

 

Speakers for 2018-2019 ~ Carol de Guiseppe is requesting feedback from this year’s speaker’s.  She is also looking for recommendations for speakers next year.  Club members will receive an email and are asked to take some time to provide her with feedback.

Saturday, June 2 - 9:30 am - 4:00 pm ~ WWII Re-enactment at the Mid-Atlantic Air Museum - Every year in June, the Mid-Atlantic Air Museum at Reading Airport (site of a club outing last year) hosts a re-enactment of the World War II era.  There are many aircraft on display as well as actors dressed up in period clothes and living life as it was lived in wartime.  For those members wishing to carpool to this event, plan on leaving Panara Bread in Exton at 8:30 am; all others should plan on meeting at the event at 9:30 am.  Please let Howard know if you will be attending.  For more information, please click here:  /club/Events_view.aspx?Eventid=4e297763-0670-4b94-a404-1a8be0f6bbd3

 

Saturday, June 16 - 3:30 - 11:30 pm ~ Coney Island bus trip  - Don’t miss an opportunity to be a part of the final club outing this year!  This will be an afternoon/evening bus trip to Coney Island, and has been timed so that we can be there during the golden hour of the afternoon and after dark, when the lights all come on.  A few spaces are still available.  Old and new members are encouraged to sign up ASAP before the bus sells out!  For further information, please click here:  /club/Events_view.aspx?Eventid=bbc11a84-4091-4d2b-aa79-2f65764b736e

 

 

Election ~ Betsy Wilson introduced club members who were running for 2018-2019 Chester County Camera Club offices.  After a show of hands, the following officers were elected:  Howard Sundwall - President, Carol DeGuiseppi - Vice President, Helen Wagner - Treasurer, Stephanie Vacek - Secretary, and Members at Large - Jennifer Gidaro & Peter Guman.

 

 

Tonight’s Speaker ~ Carol DeGuiseppi introduced tonight’s guest speaker, Betsy Barron of Betsy Barron Photography.  Betsy is a friend and former club member! Betsy owns Betsy Barron Photography in Malvern, PA.  Her team, now 4 strong, creates family and corporate portraiture, event photography, as well as architectural imagery on the Main Line and in Philadelphia.  Betsy discussed Off Camera Flash (OCF) and showed us simple one and two light setups for family and corporate portraiture. She demystified flash photography for those who only shoot in available light and showed us how simple it really can be!  You can view her work at http://www.thebetsy.com
