Club Outings ~ Howard Sundwall

*    Sunday 11/6 - Fall Colors at Hopewell Furnace - 9:30 am - 2:00 pm.    The next club outing will be to the Hopewell Furnace National Historic Site.  This is a beautifully preserved example of an early American “iron plantation”. The natural landscape, restored and preserved buildings and picturesque rural setting combine to make fine photographic opportunities within the 848 acres of the site. There will be a carpool leaving promptly at 9:30 am from Panara Bread in Exton.  If you prefer to drive on your own, plan on meeting the club members at the the Visitor’s Center at 10:00 am. *    Sunday 11/20 - City Hall & Broad Street after Dark - 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm.   Please note the change of date from 11/12;  the new date is Sunday, 11/20.  Center City Philadelphia is a vibrant exciting place to be and to make images, especially after dark!  There will be a carpool leaving from Panara Bread in Exton promptly at 5:00 pm.  For those members who chose to drive on their own, plan on meeting the group at the arch in the center of the south façade of City Hall at 6:30 pm.  Learn more about this outing here:  http://www.cccameraclub.org/club/Events_view.aspx?Eventid=38c94dc7-d53b-4336-95ad-b7cd61f3158f

Workshops ~ A mini-workshop will be presented by Wayne Dixon on Saturday, November 19 from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm.  The title is “The Art of Seeing”.  The concept for this workshop is that we all see things differently even if we are looking at the exact same thing.  This workshop will be an interactive collaboration that should inspire our own photographic creativity.

Plan on meeting at the Rhoads auditorium at 11:00 am; we will carpool over to the West Chester Courthouse to photograph anything we want to on the courthouse grounds.  Members will return to the Rhoads auditorium after the shoot to share one image with the group.  Photographers and viewers will evaluate the image regarding the photographer’s artistic vision and views on its impact to the viewer.  The emphasis is on what a photographer sees and captures; NOT on post-processing issues.  To learn more about this event, please click here:  http://cccameraclub.org/Club/Events_view.aspx?Eventid=d9d1e515-5293-4922-b9ae-39425487984c

Preregistration, on the website, is required no later than Friday, November 18.

Outreach Committee ~ Helen Wagner, Outreach Committee Coordinator, told club members that 231 images were submitted for consideration for the Penn State Great Valley Program.  A 3-member juried committee (who are not club members) are currently reviewing submissions at this time.  It is anticipated that the jurors will complete their selections by the end of November. If selected, members may hang their prints at the Conference Center Gallery on the Penn State Great Valley campus from the second week of February - end of the first week of May.  To learn more about the Penn State Great Valley Program, club members may click on the CCCC website, Club Information, Discussion Forums.  Any and all questions should be posted to the forum.  There will be a framing and pricing workshop in December to assist members in preparing their images for the program.
